HOT ICICLES by Olia Feshina

In April 2001 the first chess-inspired collection of sport and official clothes by designer Olia Feshina. Was showcased by models walking down Moscow streets. The collection included sports wear and official costumes for chess-players, created on special order by FIDE international chess association. And saw the First ever costumes for chess players created by Olia Feshina, which were then represented by model Anna Shtirlits at the FIDE sitting in Cannes. And by chess player Alexandra Kostenyuk, during an international championship at Cannes film festival Hall in March 2001.

The new collection For this Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 by Olia Feshina includes several subtopics – City, Forest Icicles, Ice Water, Frost, Ice Queen, Iceberg – depending on images and materials: rock crystal, plexiglass, silicone and natural materials like coarse thread.

According to the idea by a trendy Swiss photographer Urs Wyss. Who uses non graphical effects in his works, Instead opting to take plain shots. Captured model Tanya Lyai and transformed her in various images, depending on the accessories by Olia Feshina. In pictures frozen night figures can be seen, creating the effect of falling ice water and the placer of cold wind snowflakes. The photo session was organized by Avocado Artists agency, which represents famous trendy photographers’ interests in Russia.

First icicles by Feshina (O!FESHiNA! label) appeared in 2000 in form of plastic decorations for hair and body and were included into Merge Layers collection of sport and club clothes. The icicles grew into a separate sector which will result in “Hot Icicles” performance and show at Russian Fashion Week in October 2010.

Full Fashion Show in Paris

The biannual John Galliano menswear spectacular. Began this season with a tip of charlie chaplin’s bower hat to his silent masterpiece, Modern Times.

With dressedas chaplin, & Model Scott Barnhill each appearing to walk out of a huge clock backdrop,

As Galliano’s movie Madness began to take effect. Wanting to make a statement about new proportions in menswear. The collection saw little Tamp Shrunken Jackets, and baggy Pants which created a good starting place for this collections influence. Inspired Galliano dropped-crotch pants and fitted exaggerated jackets in A symetrical details.

All with an un-Chaplin esque, Lurex Military Twill & capturing flagrant dandyism.

Chaplin was followed on the catwalk by Buster Keaton, Porkpie hats, lugubrious expression, & three-piece suits.

With a group of retro-tailored pieces, which were introductory of a Death in venice subtext. Allowing the designer to flood the catwalk with boys in bathing suits & underwear, sustaining of a particularly lucrative license.

The shows Finale involved stripped formal wear. Of everything that did not directly enhance the voluminous trousers & evening jackets. Re conceptualized with straps, zips, and a generally brazen attitude. Brought on with a mass of strobe lighting which saw the entire show to a surreal final close

Launching the 10th edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in Stockholm.

Starting on the 16th of August, and continuing over the next three consecutive days.

Nakkna a brand best known for Avant-garde geometric design, Showcased their 15th Collection when opening for the Mercedes Benz Fashion week in Stockholm, Since its inception in 2005, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week catwalk has grown. To support nearly forty Scandinavian design houses twice annually, with the primary focus of being able to attract the international fashion communities. Of press and buyers to Swedish and Scandinavian designs.

The creative three minds behind The Nakkna’s Collection. Camilla Sundin, Claes Berkes and Ella Soccorsi who met at the Beckmans School of Design. Have been scoring a key stockist as part of Topshop’s EDIT selection.

Their Spring/Summer 2011 collection shows a clean unisex vision, of draped shapes in interesting materials. With the suspended dream stance of passing clouds. Seen almost painted around the composed models and catwalk scenery. The shapes incidentally echoed a similar image on Nakkna’s website, the silhouette of the trio in abstracted form.

“NeoMinimalistic, GeoAnatomic and fluid” is what Nakkna {answered as trio} once said of their aesthetics. And whilst parts of which could be perceived as being overly cerebral, The fluidity and ’soft grandeur like flow’ in their work has softened the geometric elements which have infiltrated their latest collection.
