LOUISE AMSTRUP
Danish born designer Louise Amstrup, spent part of her childhood living in Germany, and later returned to Duesseldorf to complete her studies. In 2003 she graduated from Akadamie Modedesign, And where she was awarded the “Graduate Talent” prize.
Louise has worked with a variety of designers including Alexander Mc Queen, Jonathan Saunders, Alistair Carr and Catherine walker. And with a growing intrest and demand for her work, Amstrup successfully launched her eponymous label in 2005, with her first self- titled debut collection “Louise Amstrup”. With the aim of dressing women in contemporay directional garments, and promoting individuality. Her culturally mixed background is reflected in her designs. Through strict and constructed elements, meeting with soft surrealism. Which creates a unique and eclectic aesthetic.
“I believe that my clothes rest in their own creative personality and radiate a natural soul- a piece of my imagination”.
Season after seaon the designer continues to create powerful feminine collections, with a soul to suit the femal form.
Her garments are exquisitely made from delicate silks, and soft chiffons mixed with exclusive wools, leather and cottons.
Amstrup has consciously placed herself at the higher end of the market, and realize that the survival of her business. Is based on thinking exclusively and worldwide, whilst never forgetting her Danish roots.
Her work was rewarded this year by receiving the Nordic Design Award “Ginen” and she was nominated for “new Design Talent” by DANSK awards in May 2009. She now lives in London.
